Phrasal verbs can be considered as idiomatic expressions made up of a verb and another part, which can either be an adverb (see examples: break down and turn down), a preposition (see examples: see to and look down on), or a combination of both. Phrasal verbs have earned a reputation for being the most challenging part of the English language for a beginner to learn because sometimes the meanings cannot be derived from interpreting the words separately. For instance, take the expression "giving up." This has nothing to do with lifting.
This quiz will test your capacity to identify and correctly apply the usages of phrasal verbs.
